Dexter’s World: Innovating Farming with Our Mobile Store and Sustainable Practices

Hi everyone, Dexter here! Today, I’m bursting with excitement to share with you a significant leap we’ve taken in our farming journey. We’ve always believed in sustainability and innovation, and our latest project embodies these principles: our first mobile store. This unique venture allows us to bring our farm’s bounty directly to you, making our products more accessible while maintaining their freshness and quality.

The Birth of Our Mobile Store

Transforming a tricycle into a rolling store was an idea sparked by our desire to make our farm produce more accessible to our customers. Thanks to Mr. Ray Chong’s expertise, we managed to turn this concept into reality. The mobile store features two doors for easy access, ample space inside for product display, and even a standing area for selling. From native eggs, hito (catfish), tilapia, geese, to ornamental fish, our rolling store is equipped to carry a variety of our farm products to the public in a presentable and efficient manner.

Embracing Organic Farming

Our journey into vegetable farming, particularly with white squash and bitter melon, has been rewarding. Using organic practices, such as composting and utilizing rabbit poop as fertilizer, we’ve seen a bountiful harvest without the use of harmful chemicals. This approach not only benefits the environment but also ensures that our produce is healthy and safe for consumption.

Superworms: A Sustainable Food Source

Another exciting development in our farm has been the successful breeding of superworms. These worms serve as a natural and nutritious food source for our chickens and ducks, promoting their health and growth without incurring high costs. By feeding these worms with discarded Chinese cabbage leaves from the market, we’ve created a sustainable cycle that benefits both our animals and our budget.

Future Plans: Expanding Our Farm’s Reach

Looking ahead, we have ambitious plans to further enhance our farm. From constructing a kitchen at the boat house for brewing coffee and offering finger foods to building additional shelters for our animals, we’re continuously exploring ways to improve our operations and visitor experience. We aim to create a space where people can connect with nature, learn about sustainable farming, and enjoy the fruits of our labor.

The Joy of Harvesting and Sharing

Harvesting our vegetables and preparing them for sale through our mobile store has been an incredibly fulfilling experience. Sharing the first fruits of our labor with friends and the community reinforces the joy and satisfaction that comes from farming. It’s a testament to the power of hard work, resilience, and faith in turning dreams into reality.
