Maximizing Farm and Boat House Productivity: A Dexter’s World Guide

Hello, wonderful people! Dexter here, feeling blessed and excited to share with you all an update about the ongoing transformations on our farm and boat house. We’re on a journey of improvement, and it’s a pleasure to bring you along!

1. Embracing Solar Energy

First off, a major milestone – we’ve successfully installed the first solar light on the farm! This is a game changer, illuminating our space during the night, although we are still in the process of lighting up the entire surroundings. It’s a step towards sustainability, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see the progress.

2. Duck Dilemmas and Solutions

However, it’s not all sunshine and roses; we’ve faced a significant challenge with our ducks. Stray dogs have been disturbing their nests, resulting in a loss of eggs. It truly saddens my heart to see this disruption in our ecosystem.

Embracing Duck Instincts:

In previous videos, I’ve discussed the importance of following the ducks’ instincts for maximum egg production, allowing them to lay eggs wherever they please, provided they are sheltered and protected. This method has proven successful, yielding over a hundred ducklings.

Addressing the Challenges:

Despite the success, we’ve learned that this open method comes with risks, such as the stray dog issue. Today, I decided to rescue the disturbed eggs and find a way to protect our ducks better.

Finding the Nest:

We went on a search to find the particular nest disturbed by the dogs, hoping to secure the remaining eggs.

Facing the Reality:

Upon finding the nest, it was evident that the damage was severe, with broken eggs scattered around – a clear sign of the stray dogs’ intrusion.

Solutions and Moving Forward:

To counter this, we collected the remaining eggs, planning to cook them instead of leaving them to waste. Meanwhile, we are devising strategies to better protect our ducks and their eggs, ensuring their safety and maximizing production.

3. Boat House Beautification

Switching gears, let’s talk about the exciting developments at our boat house! We are in the process of transforming it into a stunning attraction, with plans to light it up with serene lights during December. We envision it as a place of celebration and joy, inviting friends and family to join us.

Choosing the Right Color:

We are also considering giving the boat house a fresh coat of paint and would love to hear your suggestions on color choices. Whether it’s blue, brown, yellow, or green, your input is invaluable!

4. Duck Update and Future Plans

Back to our ducks, we have a mama duck diligently sitting on her eggs, with the anticipation of new ducklings soon. This nest is positioned closer to the entrance, making it less accessible to the stray dogs, a strategic move to protect our feathered friends.
